BREAKING NEWS: CPP Takes 120 National Assembly Seats

PHNOM PENH: The NEC released the official election results of the 7th National Assembly election from July 23 that show the Cambodian People's Party now controls 120 of the 125 seats in the National Assembly. Previously, the CPP held all 125 seats.

According to the results released on August 5, royalist party FUNCINPEC will take the remaining five seats. Both the CPP and FUNCINPEC have accepted the results.

On August 7, Prime Minister Hun Sen, who is also the CPP President, will recommend his son, Dr. Hun Manet, to the King and ask his permission to allow Hun Manet to form his Council of Ministers for the approval of the National Assembly on August 21.
